I got an iPod for Christmas and was excited to finally be able to actually take my podcasts on the road with me instead of just listening on my Powerbook. I like to listen walking or on the subway during my commute to work.

By far the best source for Podcasts is the immensely popular IT Conversations hosted by Doug Kaye. Doug produces and procures several shows each week for the technology industry and the technically minded.

Native WYSIWYG

Paolo has asked at Dave Hyatt's request, that Safari recognize a parameter in the textarea field to enable a native WYSIWYG editor. Not a bad idea, but you'll need an element with parameters and not a single parameter if you want to satisfy everyone's needs. You'll also have to agree on the return format of WYSIWYG editors including simple items such as CSS versus FONT tags and what additional tags are supported.

In the meantime, replace your TEXTAREA fields with an object.

After meeting with Jay Goldman of Inflection Design and having some in depth discussions about web standards I'm deciding to venture forth and begin to embrace CSS 2.0 on all my sites. Jay also provided some helpful sites to make the transition smoother and account for older browsers like Navigator 4x. Thanks Jay.

Once again, Dave Winer has provided me with an awesome link. Google has just released their 20 Year Usenet Archive. For those who love Internet history, they have highlighted some great moments from the first posting about AIDs to Linus Torvald's announcement of Linux. Enjoy!

1512Wired has an article on Google's groups as well. Another fun thing to try if you ever posted is to perform a search on your name. I've found multiple posts regarding questions on databases, viruses, server side programming, photoshop and weightlifting that I posed, comments on HTML copywright, answers to HTML formatting, CGI scripts, Windows 3.1 Winsock (ouch!) and falling victim to a chain thread in the early days. The list goes on and on! I had no idea I posted to USENET so much. By searching for "Michael Glenn" uwo , I found 252 hits. All so far, appear to be mine. Now I know why I receive so much spam.

This first major release is incredible compared to the betas. Non-firewalled clients have a great response time and searching in much more efficient than the old days of P2P networks.

I've downloaded the entire Paul Simon Graceland album over the past two nights. I'll have to buy this CD, as I'm enjoying almost all the songs. Love the African backups.
